Illuminated Halloween Trail

The Brief

In 2025 Wimpole Estate — a celebrated National Trust property near Cambridge — launched its first illuminated Halloween trail, transforming the historic grounds into a glowing, atmospheric after-dark experience for families during the October half-term. We were asked to animate live characters throughout the route to enhance the storytelling and bring the trail’s playful spookiness to life.

What We Did

Our performers brought a cast of memorable characters into the trail, including a Victorian Undertaker, a Scarecrow in an abandoned pumpkin patch a Brontë-esque woman lost in a storm and a playful witch. Positioned at key moments along the illuminated route, the characters offered improvised, engaging interactions that added warmth, humour and narrative depth to the immersive light experience.

The Result

The new Halloween trail was warmly received by families and local audiences, with many bookings timed throughout the half-term. The combination of striking lighting installations, atmospheric design and live character engagement helped establish Halloween at Wimpole Estate as a fresh, spirited addition to the National Trust’s seasonal programme
