The Brief

We were delighted to be asked back to help create Sewerby Winter Woodland – now in it’s fourth sparkling year! We would again be working with the team at Blue Thunder to create an interactive light trail which celebrates the fantastic grounds on the cliff-top Sewerby Hall.

What We Did

Work started earlier than ever in the year to meet a ticket launch date in June! The team at Sewerby wanted the theme to reference the Christmas Panto tradition and to retain the same strong narrative to the trail with plenty of opportunity for audiences to engage with larger-than life characters and take part in activities which would culminate in a stunning light show on the house itself.  We developed ideas for story and characters for the Winter Woodland village – a festive community which invoked the Bavarian Christmas folk traditions on which so many Pantomimes are based. Audiences would embark on a quest to rescue the Golden Goose from Old King Troll and banish him to the darkness forever with a dazzling display of light and sound. Fearless feline, Puss in Boots would be on hand to help as audiences journeyed through the woods in search of the Golden Goose herself.

The Result

We had another fantastic Christmas season at Sewerby (oh no we didn’t, oh yes we did…) bringing a wonderfully Christmas event to this unique and beloved East Yorkshire venue!
