Narnia Book Night !
Greenhill Primary School 2015
The Brief
We first met the teaching staff at Greenhill Primary School in 2014 – they contacted us via the website as they were looking for a theatre company to come into school and celebrate their outside spaces. We provided our Rusticus Adventure – Come Outside and it was a great success with staff and pupils alike. The Deputy Head was particularly pleased with how we surpassed expectations – he felt that the young people had been exposed to something new – and that they needed more of the same! Could we add value to their infamous Book Nights – the theme of the first being Narnia?
What We Did
Inspired by the ethos of the staff, and the possibilities this opportunity afforded us to adapt our events for a schools audience – we created Greenhill their own bespoke adventure. Using what we knew about the outside spaces available to us we created an adventure in which pupils helped to thwart the White Witch and which included a giant catapault of ice bricks with hidden clues inside… we delivered to two mixed age groups and their teachers after dark in November of 2015.
The Result
The success of the Narnia Book Night prompted an enduring partnership between Rusticus and Greenhill based on a shared philosophy of the beauty of surprise! We have delivered further adventures at Book Nights with themes including Roald Dahl, Tolkein, Cressida Carre, Julia Donaldson, David Walliams and Bedknobs & Broomsticks and extended the delivery to incorporate linked workshops for Key Stages 1, 2, & 3 during the school day.

“Thank you. The children have had an amazing experience that they will remember for many years.”
