The Great Pumpkin Adventure!

The Brief

Following the success of the Skelf seated performances in Summer 2022 we were asked whether we could create a new performance celebrating the Skelves relationship with Autumn and the changing seasons at Castle Howard!

What We Did

We commissioned the wonderful Barry Shannon to dip his quill back into the wonderful world of the Skelves. This time to create two new Skelf characters who reflect the joy of gathering the Autumn harvest and who would be launched to Castle Howard audiences in their own brand new origin story!

The Result

We were delighted to deliver a joyous two-handed performance introducing Buddleia and Wren – Skelf siblings who take care of the Castle Howard pumpkin harvest – in a gentle charming performance including ferrets, pigeons and plenty of pumpkin seeds!! We enjoyed a beautiful performance space by the fallen oak at Skelf Island across five days of performances during October half term in beautiful Autumn sunshine!
