Amy’s Big Dream!
East Riding Museums Service 2022
The Brief
Following the success of Amy Johnson – up in the Air – digital adventure, the museums service asked us whether we could help to create a digital resource for use with remote learning for their traditional primary school audience. Specifically, could we highlight elements of the collection connected with Amy in a meaningful and memorable way?
What We Did
We decided to create a new format which utilised a specially constructed Amy hand puppet and was filmed live with local school children on location at Sewerby Hall. Working with a puppeteer, and from a newly researched script we shot Amy’s Big Dreams in which Amy, in the course of showing children her items in the collection, took off on a flight of fancy about possible adventures around the world.
The Result
The finished 7 minute film was created on time and on budget and has already been used in online schools workshops with great feedback. So much so that the Museums service have already asked us to create another film using unused footage to accompany Amy’s Big Dreams in future workshops,
“Thanks again – the film is great!”
