Magical Springtime Adventure!

Smithills Estate

The Brief

We were asked by our friends at The Smithills Estate whether we could create a performance which celebrates everything that is exciting about the estate at Springtime and link it to their conservation work.

What We Did

We were inspired by a fabulous route from Walker Fold up on the old Tramway to the moorland above. This takes in both new planting and ancient woodland, including a particularly old hawthorn, as well as allowing us to find fun with the natural slopes and wall features of the open spaces. We created a brand new Rusticus Adventure which featured some of the busy creatures in Spring, including an industrious spider and a cuckoo with a conscience! Audiences were able to enjoy spotting the signs of Spring before meeting Mother Nature herself and spreading some magic of their own!

The Result

Magical Springtime was very well received and has remained a staple of our Spring delivery – also featuring on the events calendars at Burnby Hall Gardens and Sewerby Hall & Gardens!
