Christmas Lantern Events!
The Green Quarter, Southall
The Brief
We were inhabiting a pocket of post-Halloween activity prior to launching a series of Christmas events, when we received an email from Mollie at Hunter Design. She’d seen our lantern events on the website and asked whether we would be able to bring our rural-focused events into London to work with the communities surrounding the Green Quarter – a ground-breaking new eco-development from Berkeley Homes.
What We Did
We were able to move quickly as the timeline was tight, in order to allocate resource and plan the project effectively to maximise opportunity for community engagement. We delivered lantern making workshops in four local schools with Key Stage 3 children as well as a community workshop for families in the marketing suite at Berkeley Homes. We then worked with the team at Hunter Design to design and deliver a live lantern parade for the Christmas Lights switch-on event. Featuring our Winter Wassailing Adventure and incorporating four professional actors, a team of carol singers, a fantastic procession of lanterns made and animated by members of the community and even the Mayor himself..!
The Result
Both the workshops and the live lantern parade ran smoothly, and we were able to successfully transpose our rural approach to a diverse urban setting – incorporating key members of the business community, managing competing stakeholder requirements and providing a joyous seasonal and unusual event for local families which surpassed expectations.
“Thank you both for an amazing job this week. You exceeded all our expectations of how it would be and the event was a huge success. Thank you so much for all the hard work, effort and creative brainpower you put into this project and I definitely hope to work with you again in the future”
