Canal and River Trust

We’ve been working with the Canal & River Trust since 2017, when we were asked to help celebrate the bicentenary of a very special canal near to us a at Pocklington.

Thanks to a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Pocklington Canal Amenities Society and Project Officer, Lizzie Dealey an ambitious project is underway, in which they sections of the canal have been restored, whilst protecting the special wildlife habitats along the canal and running a series of exciting community events and activities to showcase the rich heritage of this idyllic rural East Yorkshire canal.

It became clear to us how people are central to the success of our canals – from the original vision of the designers and investors, to the labour that went into their creation, and their use in industry and for pleasure, health & well-being. We had a fantastic 2018 bringing some of these people to life, in performances at the Heritage Open Day in May, and in July for the Bicentenary Festival and Boat Rally. We are delighted to be performing at Pocklington Canal again in 2019, as well as creating a new performance to celebrate 200 years of the Sheffield & Tinsley Canal, as part of their Big Birthday Bash at Victoria Quays! Details of all our Canal & River Trust performances can be found on the upcoming events page.
