Canal and River Trust

Our eyes were opened to the tranquility and beauty of the UK’s canals back in 2017 when we were asked to help celebrate the bicentenary of a very special canal near to us a at Pocklington. Thanks to a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, an ambitious project has seen sections of the canal being restored, alongside a programme of exciting community events and activities showcasing the rich heritage of this idyllic rural East Yorkshire canal.

It became clear to us how people are central to the success of our canals – from the original vision of the designers and investors, to the labour that went into their creation, and their use in industry and for pleasure, health & well-being. We had a fantastic 2018 bringing some of these people to life, in performances at the Heritage Open Day and Bicentenary Festival and Boat Rally.

Since then, we have been lucky enough to be invited to celebrate with The Canal & River Trust in a new performance at the buzzing urban Victoria Quays on the Sheffield & Tinsley Canal, and are delighted to be back at Pocklington in May as well as creating further performances for events at the Rochdale Canal in Hebden Bridge and Chesterfield Canal, later this year!
